Johnny Test started out as a pre-existing, original test pilot episode of the show in 2004 on syndication, before the Kids' WB programming block greenlighted it as a TV series. While the pilot has never been released or aired, a promotional commercial in 2005 (with some scenes of the pilot and original voice cast can be seen) has been released. The premise of the pilot was recycled into the episode Johnny to the Center of the Earth.

Trivia[]
- Johnny Test's dog Dukey is referred to as "Poochie".
- Dukey's original name would be a reference to Poochie, a character from The Simpsons' cartoon The Itchy & Scratchy Show.
- Johnny Test's rival, Bling-Bling Boy is referred to as the "Golden Boy".
- Not to mention, he had a completely different outfit.
- Johnny looks mostly the same as he does in the actual TV show, bar the lack of red highlights on his full head of blond hair, and the skull on his shirt, which later became a radioactive hazard symbol.
- Susan has a barrette shaped like a crescent, while Mary has a barrette shaped like a star. Susan also wears a t-shirt with a logo of a crescent moon, while Mary wears a t-shirt with a logo of a star on it. It is also likely that their names were swapped.
- This pilot is mostly Lost Media, as only a few screenshots from it have been publicly shared.
